Our Beginner course is where your journey begins—with sur, taal, and voice connection. Step-by-step, we open the door to Sikh classical music, focusing on clarity, comfort, and confidence.
Monthly Structure
M1 – Introduction & Vocal Foundation
- Getting comfortable with Harmonium or Tabla
- Basic Sargam (Sa Re Ga Ma) and Taal understanding
- Exercises to open the voice and improve tone
- Breathing and vocal strength techniques
M2 – Sargam Chapters & Suur Practice
- Learning patterns & variations
- Pitch control with harmonium
- Matching voice to instrument
M3 – Advanced Sargam Techniques
- Introduction to gamaks, meend & basic ornaments
- Ear training for tone accuracy
M4 onwards – Start of Raags
- Step into the world of Gurbani Raags
- Introduction to selected Raags from 31 Raags of Guru Granth Sahib Ji
- Basics of Raag expression and feeling
Classical Raag – Advanced Level

The Advanced course is tailored to refine your voice into a Raagi’s voice—controlled, expressive, and spiritually tuned. We dive deep into complex Raag structures, taal cycles, and raag presentation techniques.
What You’ll Learn:
- Advanced Raag exploration from all 31 Gurbani Raags
- Introduction to rare Raags and Indian classical extensions
- Alaap, Bandish, and Sikh composition styles
- Perfecting voice modulation, raag mood, and raag-based shabad selection
- Taal training with Tabla, including uncommon time cycles
- Stage preparation and public Kirtan skills
Students may also be selected for performances and recordings as part of their training journey.

Yes! Our Beginner classes are made for absolute beginners—no need to know anything before joining. We teach everything step by step, from how to sit with the harmonium to how to say your first “Sa.”
No need! Instruments are provided by the academy for class use. If you have your own, that’s great—but it’s not required to start.
Usually by Month 4, you’ll start getting into the Gurbani Raags after learning the basics of Sargam and vocal control. Everyone learns at their own pace, and we guide you with care.
Beginner classes focus on voice training, Sargam, and preparing your base.
Advanced classes go deeper into Raags, taals, and how to perform Shabads with full understanding and feel.
You’ll be assessed before moving up to Advanced.
Yes! Our classes are open to kids, teens, and adults. We adjust our teaching style depending on age and comfort. Many students start as young as 6 years old!
Absolutely! As you grow in confidence, we give students chances to perform, whether in class, local programs, or academy events. But no pressure—you grow at your own pace.
Classes are held once a week in 30-minute group sessions. Extra practice at home is encouraged, and we give you guidance on what to do between classes.
This is not just music—it’s Gurbani. Along with learning Raags, you’ll also understand the meaning of Shabads, how Raags connect to emotions, and how our Gurus used music to teach wisdom.
New batches usually start every month, depending on availability. You can register anytime, and we’ll place you in the right group based on your level. We’ll inform you of your start date after assessment or enrolment.
We try to keep a fixed weekly schedule for each group so students get used to a routine. If you have special needs (school clashes, etc.), we’ll do our best to accommodate—just speak to the admin team.
